Liberty of London for Target

by gina on March 13, 2010

TargetWill we ever stop writing about Target designer collaborations?  Probably not.

Tomorrow – Sunday, March 14 – (or 5 days ago knowing how this place operates) Target launches its biggest collab yet.  The chosen one for Target’s most recent union?  Liberty of London.

Liberty, a fashion powerhouse London department store, is also an internationally known fabrics label synonymous with uber-charming and very British floral prints.  Although you may not have heard of Liberty before, you’ve most likely seen Liberty prints during your retail experiences; lines from Theory to Kate Moss for Topshop to J. Crew have used the ordinarily pricey Liberty fabrics from time to time.

We know, we know – how many GD Target designer pairings can people handle?  Just when we think they’re getting old (we don’t actually think the collabs are getting old (we absolutely love them), but we thought we should offer some sort of disclaimer if people are getting sick of reading about this topic), Target ups the ante.  The Liberty collection isn’t limited to only a smattering of women’s clothing and accessories (including rain boots and flip flops).  In addition to breezy summer and shirt dresses, scarves and bags, the Liberty x Target collection also offers adorable children’s wear, men’s wear and – wait for it – housewares!

We’re talking serious housewares here: bedding, teapots (look closely in the photo above), glassware, gardening accessories – even a floral print beach cruiser bike (okay we know that doesn’t necessarily qualify as a “houseware”).  We’ll be shocked if there aren’t a few sweet aprons in the mix.  Below, a sampling of irresistible throw pillows:libertyIf you’re looking to kick start your spring shopping, we suggest you begin tomorrow at Target.  The Target site doesn’t provide a list of which stores will carry Liberty, so we’re hoping that means most of us will get a crack at it (at least those of us who chose less insane Lenten sacrifices than HCG).

I just checked out Liberty of London for Target when I was supposed to be focusing on princess tablecloths for my daughter’s 3rd birthday party. I have to say that I LOVED the dresses I saw. However, I tried on three different versions and none of them were very flattering. Did you run across the same issues? Or, am I just not fit for these styles?

Tara: Sadly, I have not seen or tried on any of the Liberty items because of my Lenten prohibition on shopping. I’m disappointed to hear that the dress styles are not flattering, and I doubt you are the cause (I’ve had fit issues with Target designer collections in the past). Have any other HCG readers tried on the Liberty pieces?

Hidden note to readers: My apologies for the sporadic posting schedule lately. In all honesty, my shopping sacrifice is taking its toll on Here Comes Gina. I try to avoid stores and malls so I won’t feel the urge to shop. As predicted by CF, HCG is suffering. I promise I’ll be back in full effect soon.

I hit up the Liberty collection last Sunday (yes, I was one of those people that made my husband get up early to go to Target and hold stuff for me). I got two dresses, a shirt, some kitchen bowls and a picture frame. I did find that I had to try a few different sizes in the dresses before I found a fit I was happy with. But on the up side, according to Target I still wear the same size I did in college! Woot woot! We also got a dress and purse for one of our neice’s upcoming birthday – the kids’ stuff is adorable! I’m wearing the new shirt at the office today, and have already been told that I am single-handedly making it feel like spring.
